Lindsay Lohan's 'SNL' scores high ratings despite critic bashing

Monday, 5 March 2012

Lindsay Lohan may not have impressed critics while hosting Saturday Night Live, but viewers sure didn’t switch her off.
Last night’s SNL delivered the show’s highest-scoring regular performance of the season, with a 5.5

overnight household rating. Only a late-starting SNL telecast that was boosted by a primetime NFL Wild Card playoff game back in January scored a bigger number this season. Jack White as SNL‘s musical guest couldn’t have hurt either.
Lohan poked fun of her personal troubles on the show, such as appearing in a spoof of the prison documentary Scared Straight (see our recap here). But she appeared to rely heavily on cue cards and was merely a background performer in some sketches.
EW.com’s poll asked readers if Lohan was the worst host of the season. Time called it a “less-than stellar” comeback. Newsday said she was “just THERE for the most part.” Though Washington Post said Lohan was “hardly a disaster.”
Of course, some in the Twitter-sphere were far less kind than critics. Joan Rivers shot out: “Lindsay Lohan was so bad on SNL that the judge is sending her back to rehab, but for acting lessons.”
