The Simpsons:' 21 Great Guest Stars

Sunday 19 February 2012

As the animated series hits its 500th episode, we look back at Springfield's most memorable visitors' voices, from Lurlene Lumpkin (Beverly D'Angelo) to Jessica Lovejoy (Meryl Streep) to Sara Sloane (Marisa Tomei)

THE GUEST: Katy Perry
THE CHARACTER: Katy Perry (from "The Fight Before Christmas," 2010)
This Christmas-themed episode was built around a collection of dream sequences, one of which offered Martha Stewart (as herself) bringing holiday cheer to Marge and her home, even spray-painting stars with the help of Maggie's head. But ''TFBC'' grabbed a few headlines for its final segment, a live-action bit in which Homer & Co. were depicted as Muppet-like characters, with special guest (and Moe’s girl!) Katy Perry. Not only did Perry wear a formfitting red dress decorated with Simpsons characters and sing ''The 39 Days of Christmas'' with the gang, she even slipped in one of the show's raciest jokes when Moe tried to kiss his much taller girfriend's belly button.—Dan Snierson
